Skill Development Training to PWDs

The project aims at enabling youth with disability to live financially independent lives through vocational skill building. Through directed efforts in the direction of skill building, trainees would get employed, and sustain them with quality performance. The program encompasses of Basic Skill building, Sector Specific training Pre-Employment Training, Allied Activities and regular assessments, and feedback. Practical knowledge of various trades (Home appliances, Electrician, Tailoring & Computer etc) is provided to the candidates in collaboration with VRCH, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Story of Miss Gita Jena

Gita Jena D/o Harpal Jena, aged 18 years, resides at Sialjhudung of Titilagarh block of Balangir District. She is an orthopedically disabled with 50 percentage. Gita’s father nurtures the family by doing daily wage labour within the village and nearby villages. Gita completed high school and sitting idle at home due her poor financial condition. A skill development training camp was organised by SCD, Gita came to the camp with her father and assessed by VRCH & SCD personnel, she completed skill training in the trade tailoring at VRCH Bhubaneswar. After completion of the training Govt of Odisha provided her a sewing machine. Now a day Gita is earning approx. Rs 500.00 per month by using the sewing machine. She is happy with her family and she appreciates all staffs of SCD and VRCH.
